Pekanbaru Ring Road Toll Project Progress Reaches 77 Percent
PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) has announced that construction progress on the Pekanbaru Ring Road Toll project in Riau Province had reached 77 percent by the end of June 2026, with completion planned for February 2027. HKI Corporate Secretary Resnu Aditya Wuladarman stated that the project’s development is supported by the application of several construction technologies that integrate all stages of project execution. The implementation of these technologies began at the planning stage through the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM). “BIM is not only used as a 3D visualisation medium but is applied in an integrated manner from 2D, 3D, 4D, 5D, to 7D. Through a single interconnected digital model, project information such as technical drawings, construction stages, costs, and asset data can be managed more effectively, making coordination, design conflict detection, and decision-making faster and more accurate,” said Resnu. In addition, the application of technology on the Pekanbaru Ring Road Toll Project is also carried out through the use of a Common Data Environment (CDE) and Digital Survey, which encourages more effective, transparent, and accountable collaboration and work control. He explained that through the CDE, all documents, working drawings, revisions, and coordination results are managed on a single digital platform accessible in real-time according to authorisation, allowing the entire team to work using the same and most up-to-date data. Meanwhile, Digital Survey via drone photogrammetry is used for rapid, accurate, and documented measurement and verification of earthwork progress. This technology also serves as the basis for volume calculations and the preparation of more objective payment progress assessments. “The synergy between BIM, CDE, and Digital Survey forms an interconnected digital ecosystem,” he said. According to him, survey data and field inspection results can be utilised to validate actual conditions against the BIM model, while all supporting documents and information are managed through the CDE so they can be accessed by all stakeholders quickly and in a controlled manner. “This integration creates a more efficient workflow, improves the quality of decision-making, and strengthens coordination at every stage of the project,” added Resnu. Through these various digital innovations, he said, the Pekanbaru Ring Road Toll Project is strengthening an adaptive, productive, and data-based work culture. “The application of this technology is a strategy to improve construction quality, transparency, and project governance effectiveness, while supporting modern, efficient, and sustainable infrastructure development in line with the implementation of smart construction within HKI,” he stated.
