Pekanbaru Mayor Agung Nugroho praised Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission VI Andre Rosiade from the Gerindra Party during an event at SD Negeri 168 Pekanbaru, Labuh Baru Barat, Payung Sekaki. In front of parents, teachers and students, Agung described Andre as a people’s representative with significant influence who brings solutions to the community.

“Pak Andre is my friend. He is the leader of Commission VI in the DPR RI. I am a former council member, so I know. If a council member lacks influence, it is difficult to fight for the people’s aspirations. Well, Pak Andre is a tiger in Senayan,” said Agung, drawing applause from the participants.

According to Agung, although Andre is an MP from the West Sumatra electoral district, he deliberately invited Andre to visit Pekanbaru because he believes the presence of the Gerindra politician will bring many benefits to the community.

“Pak Andre’s electoral district is West Sumatra, but I asked him to come to Pekanbaru. God willing, many forms of assistance can be secured for the community and schools in Pekanbaru,” he said.

Agung’s praise continued, even calling Andre a figure close to President Prabowo Subianto, giving him great capacity to fight for the region’s needs.

During the occasion, Andre demonstrated a swift response to various needs of SD Negeri 168 Pekanbaru. After hearing complaints from Headteacher Landriani Nurdin about damaged toilets, teachers’ rooms, classrooms and computer facilities due to peat soil conditions, Andre immediately committed to providing assistance.

“When does school start, Ma’am?” Andre asked.

“13 July, Sir,” Landriani replied.

“I will ensure workers are on site by Monday. God willing, the toilets and teachers’ room will be repaired. We will start work next week,” Andre asserted, drawing applause and emotional reactions from the teachers.

Andre also promised to help with the need for laptops and computers, which had been a hindrance for the school in conducting minimum competency assessments (AKM). “For the laptops and computers, give me some time. We will coordinate with the Mayor, God willing, we will find assistance for this school,” he said.

Hearing this commitment, Headteacher Landriani Nurdin expressed her emotion, noting that the various proposals for school improvements she had long fought for finally received a swift response.

“For several years we have been continuously striving for school repairs. Alhamdulillah, with the presence of Pak Andre and Pak Agung today, our school’s needs have immediately received attention,” she said.

Andre emphasised that his presence as a member of parliament must bring real benefits to the community. The visit also represented a synergy between the Pekanbaru City Government and the DPR in serving the community’s needs, particularly in the education sector and basic services for school children.

“This is how I work as a member of the DPR RI. When I meet the community, I want to hear their problems directly and find solutions as quickly as possible,” said the Chairman of the Minang Family Association (IKM).
