Inactive Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq recounted the moment of his arrest by KPK investigators in connection with alleged corruption in project procurement. Fadia stated that he was detained by the KPK whilst charging his electric vehicle.

“I was sitting at the vehicle charging station with my child, my daughter, and the older one at home. With my head of economics and my aide, around midnight. Suddenly the KPK arrived and asked, ‘May we coordinate?’, I said yes, and I went along with them,” Fadia told journalists at the Red and White KPK building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday (13/3/2026).

Fadia claimed that he was not engaged in any transactional activity at the time, and therefore, according to him, there was no operation to catch him red-handed (OTT) in his apprehension.

“So I want to explain that there was no OTT, neither giving nor receiving anything, this is what I must clarify because of my children, because they might think I was conducting a transaction to receive money, which was not the case at all,” said Fadia.

“As a leader, perhaps I made mistakes within Pekalongan Regency institutions, but I am confident that Pekalongan Regency Government has been running well, and if anything went wrong, it must be me as the leader. None of my subordinates were at fault,” he added.

On this occasion, Fadia also stated that he would cooperate in undergoing examination in the case against him. “I will be cooperative and will assist the KPK as best as I can, with whatever I know and any information I have,” he said.

The KPK had previously seized assets including a vehicle from the corruption case involving Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq. The KPK will continue to trace other assets belonging to Fadia.

“At this time, investigators are also continuing to trace other assets allegedly in the possession of FAR,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists on Friday (6/3).

The KPK has seized vehicles from several locations at the Pekalongan Regent’s official residence and Cibubur. The breakdown includes a Wuling Air EV, Mitsubishi Xpander, Toyota Camry, Toyota Fortuner, and Toyota Vellfire.

In this case, the KPK stated that Fadia’s child and husband established a company named PT Raja Nusantara Berjaya (RNB). Fadia is suspected to be the beneficial owner of the company.

The company also contained Fadia’s success team members. He allegedly requested regional apparatus to award projects to his company. Subsequently, Fadia’s family company received Rp 46 billion from 2023 to 2026, which was then distributed.

The breakdown is as follows:

  • Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq: Rp 5.5 billion;

  • Fadia’s husband, Ashraff: Rp 1.1 billion;

  • PT RNB Director Rul Bayatun: Rp 2.3 billion;

  • Fadia’s child, Sabiq: Rp 4.6 billion;

  • Fadia’s child, Mehnaz Na: Rp 2.5 billion;

  • Cash withdrawal: Rp 3 billion.

The KPK stated that PT RNB obtained outsourcing projects in 17 regional apparatus, 3 district hospitals, and 1 subdistrict in 2025. Fadia was charged under Article 12 letter i and Article 12 B of the Anti-Corruption Crime Eradication Law (juncto Article 127 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code).
