Pekalongan City Government Launches Active Case Finding for Tuberculosis Targeting 1,350 Residents

The Pekalongan City Government has officially launched an Active Case Finding (ACF) programme for Tuberculosis (TB) as a proactive measure to reduce the transmission rate of the disease in the region. The programme targets the examination of 1,350 residents who fall into high-risk categories or have had close contact with active TB patients.

This initiative aims to accelerate early case detection, allowing patients to receive prompt and appropriate treatment to break the chain of transmission within the community. Using an outreach method, health workers will actively conduct screenings rather than waiting for residents to visit health facilities.

The implementation of the ACF programme involves various health workers from community health centres (Puskesmas) and related agencies. The screening process focuses on vulnerable groups, including those living in densely populated areas and individuals with a history of close contact with TB sufferers. Clinical symptom checks and supporting examinations are carried out to ensure accurate diagnoses.

Through the integration of early detection and treatment assistance, the Pekalongan City Government is optimistic about creating a healthier environment free from the threat of Tuberculosis in the future.
