PT Pegadaian (Persero) is urging the younger generation to prepare for the rapidly evolving digital era by strengthening three key pillars: financial literacy, enhancing competence, and building the ability to plan for future finances. The call was made during a CEO Talks event initiated by Andalas University on Monday, 29 June 2026. The event, themed ‘Digital Financial Innovation and Financial Inclusion: Pegadaian’s Strategic Role in Community Empowerment,’ was designed as an interactive collaborative space between industry and academia. Its aim was to provide a comprehensive view of the transformation of the financial services industry and the readiness required by the younger generation to succeed in the competitive job market. Director of Risk Management, Legal, and Compliance of PT Pegadaian (Persero), Ismail Ilyas, stated that long-term success is determined not only by academic achievement but also by strong character and the ability to make wise financial decisions from a young age. He therefore encouraged young people to become lifelong learners who are adaptive to change and adept at managing finances, adhering to the principle of ‘Buying the future at today’s price.’ ‘This means young people must dare to invest and build a measurable and sustainable future plan starting now,’ Ismail said. He also encouraged students to adopt healthy financial habits as soon as they receive their first income. Concrete steps can begin with allocating emergency funds, setting priorities, and choosing safe investment instruments aligned with long-term life goals. According to him, financial literacy is a crucial anchor to prevent the younger generation from falling into harmful consumerist behaviour. Pegadaian is consistently expanding the reach of financial education and inclusion through digital innovation. This collaboration with Andalas University serves as tangible proof of how literacy can be integrated with digital action. The enthusiasm of the participants, predominantly final-year students, was massive. During the event, more than 1,000 participants downloaded the Tring application and opened a Pegadaian Gold Savings account. This step serves as initial capital for new graduates to begin their first investment before entering the professional world. Through this programme, Pegadaian hopes to continue inspiring and cultivating a golden generation of Indonesians who are not only technologically adaptive but also financially mature, ready to actively contribute to driving the national economy.
