Pegadaian Supports 2,000 Trees Programme in East Kalimantan to Boost Green Collaboration
PT Pegadaian (Persero) Area Samarinda has demonstrated its commitment to environmental conservation by taking part in the 2,000 Trees for East Kalimantan Programme held in Desa Budaya Pampang, Samarinda. The activity forms part of the company’s ongoing implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
The greening programme, which took place on 7 June 2026, involved various elements of society, ranging from government, businesses, communities, and academics to young people concerned about environmental issues. The activity was the result of collaboration between Gerbangtara, the Enable Project, World Cleanup Day (WCD) East Kalimantan, local government, the private sector, academics, and the community. The President’s Special Staff for SMEs and Digital Technology, Tiar Nabilla Karbala, was also present as a form of support for the environmental conservation and sustainable development movement.
Deputy Business Officer of PT Pegadaian Area Samarinda, Andika Dwi Prastyo, stated that tree planting is a simple step with a significant impact on the future sustainability of the environment. “Through this activity, we, together with various parties, are taking real action to improve the quality of the living environment,” Andika said during an interview on Wednesday, 24 June 2026.
According to him, efforts to protect the environment cannot be undertaken by a single party alone. Cross-sector collaboration is needed so that the impact is broader and more sustainable. “This programme shows that collaboration between businesses, government, communities, and the younger generation can produce a positive impact on the environment,” he said.
Andika also expressed appreciation to the young people of East Kalimantan who were the main drivers of the greening activity. “We appreciate the spirit of the young people of East Kalimantan who are the driving force behind this activity,” he remarked.
He expressed hope that the tree-planting movement would not stop as a ceremonial activity, but would become a culture that continues to grow within society. “We hope this tree-planting movement becomes a real step in supporting sustainable development,” he said.
Furthermore, Andika affirmed that Pegadaian’s participation in the programme is in line with the company’s commitment to implementing ESG principles through various programmes that benefit society and the environment. In addition to providing inclusive financial services, Pegadaian is also active in running various social programmes, community empowerment, improving financial literacy, and supporting activities oriented towards environmental sustainability.
