Pegadaian Supports '2,000 Trees' Programme in East Kalimantan, Promoting Green Collaboration for a Sustainable Environment
PT Pegadaian (Persero) Area Samarinda has demonstrated its commitment to environmental conservation by taking part in the ‘2,000 Trees for East Kalimantan’ Programme held in Desa Budaya Pampang, Samarinda. The greening programme, which took place on Sunday (7/6), involved various elements of society, ranging from government, businesses, communities, and academics to the younger generation concerned with environmental issues. The activity was a collaboration between Gerbangtara, Enable Project, World Cleanup Day (WCD) East Kalimantan, the local government, the private sector, academics, and the community.
Deputy Business Officer of PT Pegadaian Area Samarinda, Andika Dwi Prastyo, stated that tree planting is a simple step with a significant impact on the future sustainability of the environment. “Through this activity, we, together with various parties, are taking real action to improve the quality of the living environment,” Andika said on Wednesday (24/6). According to him, efforts to protect the environment cannot be undertaken by a single party alone but must involve cross-sector collaboration to ensure a broader and more sustainable impact. “This programme shows that collaboration between businesses, government, communities, and the younger generation can produce a positive impact on the environment,” he said.
Andika also expressed appreciation for the young people of East Kalimantan who were the main drivers of the greening activity. He hopes the tree-planting movement will not stop as a ceremonial event but will become a culture that continues to grow within society. “We hope this tree-planting movement becomes a real step in supporting sustainable development,” he stated. Furthermore, Andika affirmed that Pegadaian’s participation in the programme is in line with the company’s commitment to implementing ESG principles through various programmes that benefit society and the environment. In addition to providing inclusive financial services, Pegadaian is also active in running various social programmes, community empowerment, improving financial literacy, and supporting activities oriented towards environmental sustainability.
Through the ‘2,000 Trees for East Kalimantan’ Programme, Pegadaian hopes to contribute to creating a greener and healthier environment while increasing public awareness of the importance of protecting the ecosystem. “The collaboration built through this activity is expected to inspire more parties to take a role in preserving the environment for the sake of future generations,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Regional Head of PT Pegadaian Regional Office IV Balikpapan, Rinaldi Lubis, conveyed that Pegadaian’s involvement in the ‘2,000 Trees for East Kalimantan’ Programme is a tangible manifestation of the company’s commitment to supporting sustainable development through the application of ESG principles. “Pegadaian not only focuses on empowering the community’s economy through inclusive financial services but also has a responsibility to contribute to environmental sustainability. Participation in this ‘2,000 Trees’ Programme is part of our efforts to create a sustainable positive impact for society and the environment,” said Rinaldi. Rinaldi affirmed that Pegadaian will continue to support various programmes aligned with sustainable development goals and provide added value for the environment and society across the entire working area of Regional Office IV Balikpapan.
