PT Pesonna Optima Jasa (POJ), a subsidiary of Pegadaian, has entered into a strategic collaboration with PT Trans Optima Perkasa (TOP) to expand access to vehicle ownership and rental for ride-hailing driver partners. As an initial step, the two companies handed over 250 ready-to-use vehicles to strengthen the operations of Gojek driver partners. Of the total vehicles delivered, 200 are internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and 50 are electric vehicles (EVs), reflecting a commitment to supporting the national carbon emission reduction agenda.

POJ Director Ferry Hariawan stated that the partnership serves as a strategic anchor to strengthen the urban transport ecosystem while providing an economic cushion for productive citizens. He noted that the primary social impact targeted is reducing unemployment by offering competitive vehicle rentals to ride-hailing partners, allowing them to be productive without the initial capital burden of purchasing a vehicle. This phase is a pilot project, and if it shows positive performance within three months, POJ and TOP have prepared a blueprint for a more massive expansion, targeting a total of 1,000 units.

As part of the Pegadaian Group, POJ also carries a financial inclusion mission. The collaboration will be used to introduce safe investment products to the digital ride-hailing ecosystem, with plans to conduct integrated education programmes on national gold investment for both drivers and passengers. TOP CEO Agung Beratha highlighted the significant growth potential in vehicle rental for independent workers in the app-based transport sector. With this partnership, TOP’s active managed fleet in the Jabodetabek area has increased to 1,650 units. He also noted a massive shift in driver preferences, with demand for electric vehicles surging to 80 percent, prompting an aggressive target to operate at least 500 EV units this year. The two companies are also studying the feasibility of expanding into electric two-wheeler rentals for courier and passenger transport segments.
