As a manifestation of its ongoing commitment to developing superior, adaptive, and internationally competitive human resources, PT Pegadaian has officially dispatched seven of its best employees to pursue master’s degrees abroad. The send-off ceremony, held at Pegadaian Tower in Jakarta on Friday (26/6), marked the commencement of the fourth batch of the Internal Master’s Degree Scholarship Programme for 2026. Through the Pegadaian Global Education & Mastery Scholarship, a human capital investment initiative, the company provides full scholarships to selected internal talent to gain knowledge and bring home global best business practices. Director of Human Capital at PT Pegadaian (Persero) Tribuana Tunggadewi stated that the programme is a strategic step by the company to cultivate future leaders. The international academic experience is expected to broaden perspectives, enrich knowledge, and stimulate robust innovation to support the increasingly dynamic and complex business transformation of Pegadaian in the future. “The Pegadaian Global Education & Mastery Scholarship is a manifestation of the company’s commitment to building future leaders who are globally minded, innovative, and adaptable to change. We believe that investment in human capital is a long-term investment that will produce excellent talent, bring home world-class business practices, enrich the organisation’s perspective, and accelerate Pegadaian’s transformation to continue growing, being competitive, and further ‘MengEMASkan’ Indonesia,” Dewi added. The seven Pegadaian employees dispatched in this fourth batch come from various strategic divisions and regional work units, with study focuses aligned with the company’s business development needs, ranging from financial law, information technology, and artificial intelligence (AI) to environmental management. These employees have been accepted at Imperial College London in the United Kingdom, the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, as well as the Australian National University and the University of Melbourne in Australia. All awardees underwent a rigorous, transparent, and comprehensive selection process lasting nearly a year, from April 2025 to March 2026. The selection stages included administrative screening and performance track record reviews, international standardised foreign language proficiency tests, ethics tests and potential assessments, as well as in-depth interviews directly with the Pegadaian Board of Directors, in addition to securing an official Letter of Acceptance from the target overseas university. This lengthy screening process is deliberately implemented to ensure that the selected candidates are not only academically excellent but also possess high integrity and the mental readiness to be positive representatives of the company in an international academic environment. The departure of the participants to their respective study destinations will be carried out in stages from July to September 2026, in accordance with the academic calendars of the Australian National University, the University of Melbourne, the University of Edinburgh, and Imperial College London. Through this global higher education provision, Pegadaian is optimistic about continuously strengthening its corporate competitiveness at both national and global levels, which will ultimately provide a sustainable contribution to the company and the nation.
