Pegadaian Sends Talented Staff for Master's Studies at Top Global Universities
PT Pegadaian is continuing to demonstrate its commitment to developing superior, adaptive, and internationally competitive human resources. The state-owned pawnbroker has dispatched seven of its best employees to pursue master’s degrees at various world-leading universities.
The departure ceremony marked the commencement of the Pegadaian Global Education & Mastery Scholarship Batch IV for 2026. The event was held at the Pegadaian Tower in Jakarta on Friday (26/6/2026). Through this full scholarship programme, which is a form of human capital investment, Pegadaian provides full support to selected internal talent to study abroad and bring back global best business practices.
Pegadaian’s Director of Human Capital, Tribuana Tunggadewi, stated that the programme is a strategic move to cultivate future leaders. The international academic experience is expected to broaden perspectives, enrich knowledge, and stimulate innovation to support the company’s increasingly dynamic and complex business transformation.

We believe that investment in human capital is a long-term investment that will produce superior talent, bring home world-class business practices, enrich the organisation’s perspective, and accelerate Pegadaian’s transformation to continue growing, be competitive, and further ‘Gild Indonesia’,” Tribuana said in a written statement on Tuesday (30/6/2026).
The seven employees selected for this fourth batch come from various strategic divisions and regional work units. Their fields of study align with the company’s business development needs, ranging from financial law and information technology to artificial intelligence and environmental management.
These employees have been accepted into several prestigious universities, including Imperial College London in the United Kingdom, the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, and the Australian National University and the University of Melbourne in Australia.
All awardees underwent a rigorous, transparent, and comprehensive selection process lasting nearly a year, from April 2025 to March 2026. The stages included administrative screening and performance track record reviews, standardised foreign language proficiency tests, ethics and potential assessments, and in-depth interviews directly with Pegadaian’s Board of Directors, as well as securing an official Letter of Acceptance from the overseas universities.
This extensive selection process is designed to ensure that the chosen candidates are not only academically excellent but also possess high integrity and the mental readiness to be positive representatives of the company in an international academic environment.
The participants will depart for their respective study destinations in stages between July and September 2026, in accordance with the academic calendars of the Australian National University, the University of Melbourne, the University of Edinburgh, and Imperial College London.
Through this global higher education initiative, Pegadaian is optimistic about strengthening its corporate competitiveness both nationally and globally, which will ultimately provide a sustainable contribution to the company and the nation.
