PT Pegadaian (Persero) has issued an official statement regarding the legal process for an alleged criminal offence involving a former employee of the M. Said Service Unit, Air Putih Branch, Pegadaian Balikpapan Regional Office. The company emphasised that it respects and fully entrusts the handling of the case to law enforcement officials.

Pegadaian explained that the alleged violation originated from an internal audit conducted by the company. Pegadaian also confirmed that services at the M. Said Unit continue to operate normally and that no customers or members of the public have suffered losses in this case.

“The management of PT Pegadaian (Persero) respects and fully entrusts the handling of the UPC M. Said case to law enforcement officials, so that the perpetrator is processed in accordance with the applicable legal provisions and regulations,” Pegadaian stated in a holding statement received on Friday (26/6/2026).

Pegadaian noted that indications of the alleged fraud were discovered based on an internal audit report on 3 September 2024. The allegation involved EFS during his tenure as Head of the M. Said Unit and had the potential to cause losses to the company.

Following an internal investigation, Pegadaian found a potential company loss of Rp 1.2 billion. However, the company stressed that no customers or members of the public suffered any losses as a result of the case. As a follow-up, Pegadaian imposed disciplinary sanctions in the form of termination of employment on EFS, effective 15 April 2025.

As part of the case resolution, Pegadaian subsequently reported EFS, who was no longer an employee, to the Samarinda District Prosecutor’s Office on 22 July 2025. After an investigation process, EFS was named a suspect and detained on 24 June 2026.

Pegadaian asserted that it has zero tolerance for any form of violation that contravenes legal provisions or the company’s internal regulations. “PT Pegadaian (Persero) does not tolerate criminal acts and behaviour by individual employees that contravene the Law, Company Internal Regulations or the Company’s cultural values that serve as guidelines for all Pegadaian personnel,” Pegadaian wrote.

The company hopes that the legal action taken will provide a deterrent effect and serve as a reminder for all Pegadaian personnel to carry out their duties honestly and with integrity.

“The firm stance of PT Pegadaian (Persero) management through this legal process is expected to create a deterrent effect and serve as a stern warning to all Pegadaian personnel to work honestly and with full integrity,” the statement continued.

Pegadaian also reaffirmed its commitment to continuously implementing the principles of Good Corporate Governance to maintain the trust of customers and stakeholders. “PT Pegadaian (Persero) is committed to implementing Good Corporate Governance, based on a culture of Wholehearted Service, in order to maintain the trust of customers and all stakeholders,” Pegadaian explained.

Furthermore, Pegadaian assured that operational services at the M. Said Unit continue to run well and safely for the public.
