In preparation for the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, PT Pegadaian through its Jakarta Regional Office VIII Branch 1 organised the Safe Homecoming and Shared Hope 2026 programme as part of its support for the Free Homecoming Programme of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).

The programme aims to provide safe, comfortable, and well-organised homecoming facilities for communities wishing to return to their hometowns. The departure ceremony for programme participants was held at the Pegadaian Kramatjati Area Office in East Jakarta, with 500 homebound travellers dispatched using a fleet of buses to various destinations on the island of Java, including Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Madiun, and Purwokerto.

The Safe Homecoming and Shared Hope programme represents Pegadaian’s efforts to provide easy access to transportation for communities ahead of Eid celebrations. In addition to free transportation, participants received various travel provisions, including participant t-shirts, goodie bags, travel meals, and other equipment to support comfort during the journey home.

Prior to the departure date, Pegadaian conducted various preparatory stages including planning for participant quotas and destination cities, coordination with relevant agencies such as transportation authorities and security services, and participant registration and data verification processes. These stages were undertaken to ensure that the entire homecoming operation would run smoothly, orderly, and in accordance with travel safety standards.

On the day of the event, proceedings began with participant re-registration and the exchange of physical tickets for identity bands and merchandise packages. This was followed by an opening ceremony featuring remarks from Pegadaian’s management, the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, symbolic handover of homecoming provisions to participant representatives, and group photographs.

Eka Pebriansyah, Director of Network and Operations, noted in a written statement on Tuesday (17 March 2026): “Pegadaian, as usual each year, has conducted this joint homecoming activity. Whilst the theme may change yearly, this year’s theme is Safe Homecoming and Shared Hope, so our hope is that the journey home is safe, everyone arrives at their destination in good health, and that those participating experience improved circumstances.”

He further explained that Pegadaian has provided a total of 84 transportation units comprising 78 buses, 5 ocean vessels, and railway services being deployed simultaneously across various regions of Indonesia. The three modes of transport—buses, trains, and ships—cover departure and destination areas spanning Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, through to the East Nusa Tenggara and Manado regions.

Specifically in Jakarta, homebound participants departed from two locations: Pegadaian Kebon Nanas and Budi Luhur University, with approximately 10 buses dispatching 500 travellers to various cities in Central and East Java.

Eka stated: “We hope that those travelling home will spend their time in their hometowns in good health, and will return in good health as well.”

He explained that Pegadaian’s homecoming programme operates in one direction only, as the return schedules for travellers vary, ranging from seven days to two weeks or one month after Eid. These different schedules make a coordinated return journey difficult to organise.

Jatinegara Sub-District Head Endang Kartika Wahyuningsih expressed that the activity represents collaboration in enhancing comfort for communities, particularly Pegadaian clients. She noted: “Pegadaian is releasing 500 homebound travellers, meaning Pegadaian’s presence within society not only assists in addressing financial needs but also shares with full hope. We hope that everyone departs in good health and arrives at their destinations safely.”

Dede Kurniawan, Regional Leader of Jakarta Region VIII Branch 1, added that the programme reflects Pegadaian’s commitment to continuing to provide tangible benefits to society. He stated: “Through the Safe Homecoming and Shared Hope 2026 programme, Pegadaian wishes to help communities, particularly clients and the general public, to return to their hometowns safely, comfortably, and in an organised manner. We hope this activity will bring happiness to homebound travellers wishing to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with family in their hometowns.”

The event continued with the presentation of Safe Homecoming and Shared Hope 2026 merchandise to free homecoming programme participants by Eka and Endang, followed by inspection and checks of the bus fleet by Pegadaian leadership and interaction with the travellers.

The proceedings, held on Monday (16 March), concluded with an official kick-off ceremony marking the formal commencement of the participants’ journeys to their respective destination cities.

Through organising this programme, Pegadaian hopes to help communities undertake safer and more comfortable homecoming journeys, whilst contributing to supporting smooth national homecoming flows ahead of Eid al-Fitr celebrations. The initiative also reflects Pegadaian’s active role as a State-Owned Enterprise in providing sustainable social benefits to society. The event was attended by various PT Pegadaian officials including the Director of Finance and Strategic Planning, Ferdian Timur Satyagraha, and the Director of Risk Management, Legal, Compliance and General Affairs, Ismail Ilyas.
