Cilacap, Central Java (ANTARA) - PT Pegadaian’s Director of Finance and Strategic Planning, Ferdian Timur Satyagraha, stated that the company has recorded pawn receivables worth Rp124 trillion since early March up to the lead-up to Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. He noted that the trend in pawning activity from mid-Ramadan to the approach of Eid is relatively similar to the trend leading up to and at the start of Ramadan. “Since early March up to the lead-up to Eid, over a two-week period, the total value of receivables reached Rp124 trillion, with a 2% growth or about Rp2.4 trillion from February,” said Ferdian Timur Satyagraha when contacted by ANTARA from Cilacap, Central Java, on Thursday. He explained that this increase indicates that pawning services have become one of the main options for fulfilling the public’s liquidity needs during Ramadan up to Eid al-Fitr. Ferdian stated that gold and jewellery, vehicles, and electronic devices are the items most commonly used as collateral by customers. He added that gold, jewellery, and electronic devices are often chosen to obtain pawning financing. “Meanwhile, vehicles are frequently pawned because some segments of society who are travelling home or journeying do not use land routes during Eid and have entrusted Pegadaian to look after their vehicles during the homecoming period,” he said. This is because those three regions have significant needs for funding, particularly through gold pawning. “PT Pegadaian has anticipated the surge (in pawning activity) by ensuring the company’s capacity to meet public demand, such as company liquidity readiness, attractive promotional programmes, strengthening credit scoring and customer profiling, enhancing TRING! digital services, and securing outlets during the Eid holiday,” he said.
