State-owned pawnbroker PT Pegadaian (Persero) is expanding its corporate social responsibility initiative, the Pande Emas programme, to Palu, Central Sulawesi, as part of efforts to strengthen the national bullion services ecosystem. The programme aims to empower local gold artisans through training, business mentoring, and the provision of production equipment, while also educating them on the company’s gold-based financial products and services.

Deputy Business Head of the Palu Area for PT Pegadaian, Putra Aspin Rahmatullah, stated that the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to creating sustainable benefits for communities. “The Pande Emas programme is our commitment to creating sustainable value for society through the empowerment of local gold artisans. We hope this programme will strengthen the bullion services ecosystem and provide added value for both the community and the company,” he said in a press release on Thursday.

The launch in Palu was marked by the handover of equipment, training sessions, and the official commencement of Pande Emas operations. The company aims to broaden public access to gold jewellery services while enhancing the business capacity of local craftsmen. The programme has previously been implemented in other regions, recording a community satisfaction rate of 89.99 percent, categorised as very good, and has received recognition for its Creating Shared Value approach. Pegadaian plans to further expand the programme to other areas as part of its social and environmental responsibility strategy to support the gold-based business ecosystem.
