PT Pegadaian (Persero) has partnered with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to expand the gold ecosystem while opening access to gold-based financing and financial services for the business community. The cooperation was formalised in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for an Integrated Economic Empowerment Programme titled ‘Strategic Collaboration between Kadin and Pegadaian to Goldenise Indonesia’. The MoU was signed by Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie and Pegadaian President Director Damar Latri Setiawan at Pegadaian Tower, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 12 August 2026. Damar stated that the collaboration brings together two institutions with extensive networks across various regions. According to him, Kadin’s network can serve as a gateway to expand the utilisation of Pegadaian’s products and services among business actors. ‘Kadin is present throughout Indonesia, and Pegadaian is also present throughout Indonesia. This synergy is perfectly suited to broaden the use of Pegadaian’s products and services within the business community,’ Damar said. He added that through this partnership, Kadin members and the public can access various Pegadaian services, including gold transactions via the Tring by Pegadaian application. ‘Through the Tring by Pegadaian app, all members of the public and Kadin can manage their gold affairs easily, quickly, and practically from anywhere,’ he noted. The cooperation encompasses business actors from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) up to corporations. Pegadaian and Kadin will encourage the use of gold as a savings and investment instrument, as well as an alternative source of funding for businesses. Damar said Pegadaian continues to strengthen the gold ecosystem from upstream to downstream. In addition to expanding digital services through the Tring application, Pegadaian is developing a physical gold transaction service network. Currently, Pegadaian operates 20 Gold ATM units in several strategic locations across Indonesia. Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie appreciated the cooperation. He said gold can serve as a hedging instrument for the business world because it is relatively resistant to inflation and exchange rate fluctuations. ‘This is a strategic cooperation, at least from the savings side for both companies and individuals, as well as a good way for future funding,’ Anin said. He stated that the need for financing and strengthening public savings is an important part of driving the national economy. ‘Our needs as a country are enormous, and one of the keys to Indonesia’s success in escaping the middle-income trap is by saving. The best form of saving is saving gold,’ Anin remarked. Anin also tried out Pegadaian’s Gold ATM facility at Pegadaian Tower. He said the facility provides convenience for customers to obtain physical gold from their digital gold balances. ‘I tried the Gold ATM myself earlier. If you have savings, you can really withdraw the physical gold yourself directly. This provides comfort and certainty for the public,’ Anin said. Through the MoU, Pegadaian and Kadin agreed on several areas of cooperation, including the empowerment of MSMEs and business actors through training, mentoring, and business capacity development. Both parties will also expand Kadin members’ access to Pegadaian’s financing, investment, and gold savings products. These services are intended for employees, Kadin member companies, and the supplier ecosystem under the auspices of Kadin Indonesia. The cooperation also includes improving financial literacy and inclusion through training, business mentoring, and education on gold-based financial services. Pegadaian and Kadin hope this collaboration will broaden access to financial services, strengthen business actors, and promote the use of gold in economic activities. The partnership is also directed at supporting the sustainable development agenda and the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045.
