Pegadaian Manages 153.72 Tonnes of Gold as It Prepares for International Stage
PT Pegadaian (Persero) has demonstrated solid business performance under the Danantara Investment Management Agency. The collaboration has spurred strengthened governance, accelerated business transformation, and reinforced Pegadaian’s position as the main driver of an innovative and sustainable national gold ecosystem. As of May 2026, the company’s total gold managed reached 153.72 tonnes. This figure is attributed to Pegadaian’s consistency in aggressively promoting education and literacy on gold investment nationwide, aiming to shift the public paradigm towards viewing gold as a productive, liquid investment asset rather than merely a traditional store of value.
Under Danantara’s auspices, Pegadaian has solidified its position as the pioneer and sole gold bank in Indonesia with the most integrated upstream-to-downstream ecosystem, complete with international-standard vault storage and a gold processing and retail factory through its subsidiary, Galeri 24. This contributes to the government’s Asta Cita commodity downstreaming agenda. Selfie Dewiyanti, Director of Marketing, Sales, and Product Development at PT Pegadaian, stated that through the development of the national bullion ecosystem, Pegadaian ensures that Indonesian gold commodities do not stop as raw materials but are transformed into value-added products capable of massively driving the domestic economy and improving public welfare. “We continuously strive to provide the best and most relevant products for the community’s needs. To that end, we offer comprehensive gold-based products, ranging from Gold Deposits, Corporate Gold Custody, Gold Working Capital Loans, to gold trading. We also provide gold investment options such as gold instalments and gold savings accessible directly through the Tring! application,” she said.
Earlier in the first quarter of 2026, PT Pegadaian recorded positive performance up to 30 April 2026. Through an adaptive business strategy and aggressive gold ecosystem expansion, Pegadaian posted a net profit of Rp 4.38 trillion, growing 87.2 percent compared to the same period in 2025, which was Rp 2.34 trillion. This stellar performance acceleration is also reflected in total assets reaching Rp 183.8 trillion, a 56 percent increase from the previous year’s Rp 117.8 trillion. This asset growth was strongly supported by gross outstanding loans soaring to Rp 153.6 trillion, up 58.8 percent from the previous year’s Rp 96.7 trillion. Damar Latri Setiawan, President Director of PT Pegadaian, remarked, “It is not easy to maintain consistent growth for one and a quarter centuries without great loyalty and trust from customers. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Indonesian people who continue to make Pegadaian their primary financial partner. This achievement is also the fruit of the dedication and hard work of all Pegadaian personnel.”
Furthermore, Pegadaian is stepping onto the international stage, beginning with strengthening its capital structure and gaining international market trust through the receipt of strategic funding facilities from Japanese banking giant Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. Responding to modern investment trends, Pegadaian is developing a Gold Exchange-Traded Fund product to provide flexibility for investors to trade gold on the exchange in a liquid and transparent manner. The company has also expanded its network by officially opening its first overseas branch office in Timor Leste. The collaboration with Danantara has ushered PT Pegadaian into a new era as a financially sound strategic state investment asset, delivering real impact for national economic sovereignty and ready to compete in regional and global markets.
