Pegadaian Introduces Interest-Free Pawning for the Public
PT Pegadaian has reintroduced its interest-free conventional pawning programme and interest-free Mu’nah (Sharia) pawning scheme as a demonstration of its commitment to strengthening grassroots economy and alleviating the financial burden on communities. The programme is designed as a quick, easy, and affordable financing solution for both productive needs of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and urgent daily requirements.
Selfie Dewiyanti, Director of Marketing, Sales, and Product Development at PT Pegadaian, stated that the programme represents Pegadaian’s strategic role as a financial institution that is not only business-oriented but also holds social responsibility towards the wider public.
“The interest-free pawning and interest-free Mu’nah pawning, also known as Caring Pawning, is a concrete step to ensure inclusive financial services can reach all segments of society without exception. We understand that the need for quick liquidity is crucial at present, but communities are often concerned about the burden of high capital costs. Through this interest waiver, we aim to help stabilise household finances by optimally utilising gold assets and other valuable items,” Dewiyanti said.
The programme targets new customers and inactive customers who wish to resume using Pegadaian’s services. Under the scheme offered, customers can enjoy regular pawning facilities with capital rental or interest waived for 60 days, as well as daily pawning with interest waived for 30 days. Loan amounts range from IDR 50,000 to IDR 2.5 million.
The public can take advantage of this special programme until 30 April 2026 at all Pegadaian outlets throughout Indonesia, including conventional outlets, Sharia outlets, and co-location outlets such as SenyuM outlets. The programme applies to one transaction only for new customers or customers who have not conducted pawning transactions for an extended period.
To participate in the programme, prospective customers are required to bring identity documents with a verified National Identity Number (NIK) from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil).
Through the interest-free pawning and interest-free Mu’nah pawning programme, PT Pegadaian hopes to continue fulfilling its function as a healthy business entity whilst also serving as a driver of the national economy. Pegadaian is committed to providing financial access that is safe, trustworthy, and free from illegal financing practices in support of wider public welfare.
