Pegadaian Holds LEXIS 2026, Prepares for National Criminal Law Transformation
In anticipation of changes to the national legal landscape, Pegadaian held the Legal Excellence & Integrity Summit (LEXIS) 2026 on 4–5 June 2026 at The Gade Tower in Jakarta. The strategic forum carried the theme ‘Transformation of National Criminal Law: Implications of the Implementation of the New KUHP and KUHAP on Legal Risk and Business Sustainability.’
The convening of LEXIS 2026 represents an adaptive response and proactive step by Pegadaian to the enactment of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP) and Law No. 20 of 2025 concerning the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). These two new regulations are projected to bring significant changes to legal risk management in the business world, including for Pegadaian.
To examine the new regulations in depth, LEXIS 2026 featured two prominent national legal experts as speakers: Prof. Dr. Asep Nana Mulyana, S.H., M.H. (Junior Attorney General for General Crimes at the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia and Acting Deputy Attorney General) and Prof. Dr. Hibnu Nugroho, S.H., M.Hum. (Professor of Criminal Procedure Law at Jenderal Soedirman University). Both experts thoroughly analysed crucial articles and identified their legal implications for corporate operations.
Director of Risk Management, Legal, and Compliance of PT Pegadaian, Ismail Ilyas, emphasised that understanding the new regulations is key to maintaining corporate compliance and reputation. ‘The implementation of the new KUHP and KUHAP requires corporations to move more nimbly in mapping potential risks. Through LEXIS 2026, we are committed to continuously enhancing legal awareness across all lines of the organisation. This is not merely about formal compliance, but a solid foundation to protect company assets, strengthen clean governance, and ensure the future sustainability of Pegadaian’s business,’ he stated.
The strategic forum was enthusiastically attended by Pegadaian Legal Division personnel from across Indonesia, Division Heads under the Directorate of Risk Management, Legal, and Compliance, Inspectors and Auditors of the Head Office Internal Audit Unit, Regional Office Internal Audit Heads, and Legal Agents for 2026. Through this massive strengthening of legal competence, Pegadaian is committed to building thorough preparedness among all key elements of the company in managing legal risk. This concrete step is expected to mitigate potential fraud and ensure optimal implementation of Good Corporate Governance across all Pegadaian operational areas.
