The programme, held from 9-11 May 2026, partnered with Klinik Pratama Pegadaian Permata Surabaya and the John Fawcett Foundation (JFF) to provide eye health services to the community, particularly cataract sufferers who lack access to medical treatment.

During the event, 300 people underwent initial screening examinations. From these, 125 individuals were deemed eligible and received free cataract surgery. The programme encompassed initial assessments, surgical procedures, and post-operative follow-ups to ensure participants’ recovery progressed smoothly.

Deputi Operasional PT Pegadaian Kanwil XII Surabaya Alfafatih Rosada stated that the activity represents Pegadaian’s tangible concern for public health and forms part of the company’s support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the goal of good health and well-being.

“Through this Free Cataract Surgery Programme, we hope the community can see more clearly again, carry out activities comfortably, and lead their daily lives better,” said Alfafatih in a written statement on Wednesday (13/5/2026).

Meanwhile, the Regional Leader of PT Pegadaian Kanwil XII Surabaya, Ahmad Zaenudin, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration among various parties in the social activity.

“Health is a fundamental need that is vital for the quality of life of the community. Through this programme, Pegadaian aims to be present not only as a financial services company but also as one that delivers real benefits and direct impact for society. We hope activities like this can continue and reach more beneficiaries in the future,” Ahmad Zaenudin remarked.

Pegadaian also extended thanks to all medical personnel, the team from Klinik Pratama Pegadaian Permata Surabaya, the John Fawcett Foundation (JFF), and all parties who supported the event, enabling it to run smoothly and provide tangible benefits to the community.

In addition to various social programmes, Pegadaian remains committed to supporting community welfare through accessible financial services, such as pawning, Gold Savings, Sharia KUR, and digital services via the Tring! by Pegadaian app.

“Through this activity, Pegadaian hopes to continue making positive contributions to society and strengthening the company’s role in enhancing the quality of life and health of Indonesians,” it concluded.
