Pegadaian’s Regional Office XII Surabaya carried out the Free Cataract Surgery Programme for 2026 at the Langen Palikrama, Sidoarjo, on 9-11 May 2026. The initiative was conducted in partnership with Pegadaian Permata Surabaya Primary Clinic and the John Fawcett Foundation (JFF) to provide eye health services to the public, particularly cataract patients who require medical treatment but face limited access to health services.
During the event, 300 people underwent screening. Of these, 125 were deemed eligible and underwent free cataract surgery.
The programme encompassed a series of initial examinations, the surgical procedures, and post-operative follow-up to ensure participants’ recovery progressed smoothly.
Alfafatih Rosada, Deputy Operational of PT Pegadaian Kanwil XII Surabaya, stated that the activity represents Pegadaian’s concern for public health and is part of the company’s support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the Good Health and Well-being goal.
