Pegadaian Gold Sales Jump 191 Per Cent at the Start of 2026
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — PT Pegadaian has recorded a significant jump in gold sales at the start of 2026. As of 28 February 2026, Pegadaian’s gold sales rose by 191 per cent compared with the same period a year earlier.
Between January and February 2026, Pegadaian sold about 7.2 tonnes of gold. The figure represents a sharp increase compared with the same period in 2025, which was around 2.5 tonnes.
The sales stem from two Pegadaian main products, namely tabungan emas and cicilan emas batangan.
Pegadaian’s Chief Financial and Strategic Planning Officer Ferdian Timur Satyagraha said the trend of people buying gold is increasingly positive even though global gold prices have fluctuated.
He added that demand for physical gold at Pegadaian remains high, especially from people who view gold as a long-term investment instrument.
Pegadaian provides two mechanisms for the public to own gold, namely through tabungan emas or cicil emas. In the cicil emas scheme, customers only need to prepare a down payment of at least 15 per cent of the value of the gold purchased and attach a valid identity card.
Applications for instalment can be made at Pegadaian outlets or digitally via the Pegadaian Digital app.
“The advantage of cicil emas is that the price of gold is agreed according to the transaction date until the bullion is owned by the customer. Therefore, customers do not need to worry if the price of gold increases in the future,” Ferdian explained.
Meanwhile, through the tabungan emas product, the public can invest in gold more flexibly. Customers simply open a tabungan emas account through the digital app and can start saving gold with small amounts from Rp 10,000.
Every saved fund is immediately converted into grams of gold so that the customer’s balance is recorded in grams, not rupiah.
Pegadaian President Director Damar Latri Setiawan said the amount is an important capital to support the development of the bullion bank ecosystem in Indonesia.
“We currently manage around 141 tonnes of gold. This comprises various bullion product types, including gold deposits, working capital gold, bullion trading, and the public’s tabungan emas,” Damar said at the launching of the Indonesia Bullion Ecosystem Roadmap in Jakarta, on Friday (6 March 2026).
