Pegadaian Ensures Digital Gold Has Physical Reserves, Customers Can Print Physical Gold via a Gold ATM

Interest in digital gold investment continues to rise as transactions via the app become easier. In response to concerns about security and the availability of gold, PT Pegadaian assures that all digital gold investment products offered to customers are fully backed by physical gold. The company applies a one-to-one ratio, meaning every digital gold purchase by a customer is backed by physical gold stored in Pegadaian’s vaults. Director of Information Technology and Digital at PT Pegadaian, Yos Iman Jaya Dappu, explained that Pegadaian even prepares the physical gold before customers conduct transactions via the Tring! app. With this mechanism, every digital gold purchase has a real-asset guarantee of availability. “So this fulfils two things. First, from a security perspective. Second, from the perspective of its Sharia compliance concept. The physical gold already exists beforehand,” said Yos Iman Jaya Dappu during the PRIMA Talkshow with Tring: “Cerdas Investasi Finansial Pasti 2026” at Pegadaian’s Head Office, The Gade Tower, Jakarta, Thursday (5/3/2026). Gold is Purchased, the Physical Gold Already Exists. Yos cited that if a customer buys 100 grams of digital gold, Pegadaian has already secured the same amount in physical gold. This step also serves as a strategy to avoid the risk of fluctuations in gold prices in the market. ‘The gold at Pegadaian is one-to-one. When friends buy 100 grams, 200 grams, or any amount, physically there is gold at Pegadaian,’ said Yos. He explained that the gold kept by Pegadaian is generally in the form of large bars, for example one kilogram. In a single bar there are ownership portions for different customers in accordance with the digital-gold balances they own. Because of this storage system, the process of printing physical gold from a digital balance takes a certain amount of time. Gold ATM to Print Digital Balances. To provide convenience for customers, Pegadaian has also introduced a Gold ATM facility. Through this service, customers can print physical gold directly from their digital gold balances. Currently, the facility is still limited in availability. However, Pegadaian plans to expand the presence of Gold ATMs to various regions across Indonesia.
