Pegadaian Distributes Emergency Aid to East Nusa Tenggara Earthquake Victims Through Pegadaian Peduli Programme
Jakarta – Moving quickly to support recovery efforts following the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Pegadaian has distributed aid through its Environmental and Social Responsibility (TJSL) programme “Pegadaian Peduli” as a form of social concern to help ease the burden on affected residents.
The initial assistance distributed by Pegadaian’s Denpasar Regional Office focuses on meeting the basic needs of the community. The logistics packages include staple food items (sembako), clean water, baby and toddler supplies, medicines, sanitation equipment, and temporary protection facilities such as refugee tents, blankets, and folding mats.
The distribution was carried out directly by the Pegadaian team to ensure the aid arrived quickly and on target at several locations, including Sikka Regency, Nagekeo Regency, Ende Regency, Manggarai Regency, West Manggarai Regency, and East Manggarai Regency, on Monday (17/08).
Director of Network and Operations of PT Pegadaian (Persero), Eka Pebriansyah, said that this aid distribution is part of Pegadaian’s effort to remain present in the community. “Through Pegadaian Peduli, Pegadaian is committed not only to being present during the emergency response phase, but also to accompanying the community through the post-disaster recovery phase. Currently, Pegadaian is conducting an inventory and data collection of affected customers and operational facilities,” he said on Wednesday, 19 August 2026.
Previously, a tectonic earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 shook the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) region, particularly the northern areas of Flores and Nagekeo. The earthquake, triggered by activity along the Flores Back-Arc Thrust fault, served as a stark reminder of the high tectonic activity in the Nusa Tenggara region. In response to the emergency, PT Pegadaian immediately coordinated with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), local BPBD offices, and the nearest Pegadaian branch network in NTT to identify the urgent needs of survivors at evacuation sites.
Through synergy with local governments, disaster management agencies, and all elements of society, Pegadaian hopes that the handling of the earthquake’s impact in East Nusa Tenggara can proceed quickly and optimally. Pegadaian is committed to continuing to monitor developments on the ground and is ready to distribute further assistance in line with the evolving needs of communities in the affected areas.
