Pegadaian Distributes Emergency Aid in Rapid Response to NTT Earthquake
Pegadaian has moved quickly to assist recovery efforts following the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), distributing aid through its corporate social and environmental responsibility programme ‘Pegadaian Peduli’ as a form of social concern to help ease the burden on affected residents. The initial phase of assistance, delivered by Pegadaian’s Denpasar Regional Office, focuses on meeting the basic needs of the community.
The logistics aid packages include staple food items, clean water, supplies for babies and toddlers, medicines, sanitation equipment, and temporary protection facilities such as evacuation tents, blankets, and folding mats. The aid was distributed directly by Pegadaian teams to ensure it arrived quickly and on target at several locations, including Sikka Regency, Nagekeo Regency, Ende Regency, Manggarai Regency, West Manggarai Regency, and East Manggarai Regency on Monday, 17 August 2026.
Director of Network and Operations of PT Pegadaian (Persero) Eka Pebriansyah said the distribution of this aid is part of Pegadaian’s effort to remain present in the community. Through Pegadaian Peduli, Eka emphasised that Pegadaian is committed not only to being present during the emergency response phase but also to accompanying the community through the post-disaster recovery phase.
‘Pegadaian is currently conducting an inventory and data collection of affected customers and operational facilities,’ he said.
Previously, a tectonic earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 shook the NTT region, particularly the northern areas of Flores and Nagekeo. The earthquake, triggered by activity along the Flores Back-Arc Thrust, serves as a stark reminder of the high tectonic activity in the Nusa Tenggara region.
In response to the emergency, PT Pegadaian immediately coordinated with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), local Regional Disaster Management Agencies (BPBD), and the nearest Pegadaian branch office network in NTT to identify the urgent needs of survivors at evacuation sites.
Through synergy with local governments, disaster agencies, and all elements of society, Pegadaian hopes that the handling of the earthquake’s impact in East Nusa Tenggara can proceed quickly and optimally. Pegadaian is committed to continuing to monitor developments on the ground and is ready to distribute further assistance in line with the evolving needs of communities in the affected areas.
