Pedicab driver tried for theft

CIREBON, West Java: A pedicab driver was tried on Tuesday for stealing five sets of brass scales, mistakenly thought to be made of gold, in the Pasalaran traditional market of Weru village.

Prosecutor Eman Sulaeman said the defendant, 40-year-old Tarman, was apprehended on March 23 for stealing the scales from a stall belonging to trader Rumini.

"Rumini spotted Tarman leaving her kiosk carrying a plastic bag. She immediately screamed out and called him a thief," Eman said.

Tarman was then mobbed by other traders in the market before being arrested, Antara reported.
