Pedestrian walkway roof at Jurangmangu Station damaged, KRL passengers fear collapse
A pedestrian access roof to Jurangmangu Station in Ciputat, South Tangerang, was severely damaged on Thursday (21 May 2026). Kompas.com observations showed many holes in the corrugated steel roof panels, with one area severely damaged. The structure appeared broken, with bamboo plants protruding through the roof. Despite the damage, pedestrians continue to use the access, including KRL commuters and university students heading to Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (UPJ). Three staff were on site: one security officer ensuring safety for those passing underneath, and two workers repairing the area by removing damaged spandek sheeting. The removed roofing material lay piled around the repair zone. Repairs were expected to be completed soon. A KRL passenger, Mariam (25), said she was anxious to pass under the damaged roof, especially during heavy rain and strong winds. ‘I’m really afraid it could collapse. The scariest part is during rain because storms have been frequent,’ she told Kompas.com at the site. She added that the damage had persisted for some time, but work to fix it only appeared today. Additionally, lighting at the access to the station was deemed to be inadequate.
