Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by Three Vehicles in Denpasar, Two Flee the Scene

An unidentified male pedestrian died after being involved in a multi-vehicle accident on Imam Bonjol Street, precisely in front of the Kubu Pratama Indah housing complex at kilometre 10, Denpasar, in the early hours of Wednesday, 20 May 2026. The victim is said to have been struck by three vehicles in succession. The first two vehicles fled the scene.

Head of the Denpasar City Police Traffic Accident Sub-Unit, Ipda Nila Cahyaning Wisnu, said the accident occurred around 02:20 WITA and was reported to police around 02:30 WITA.

“Two vehicles involved in the initial incident immediately left the scene and are currently under investigation,” Nila told reporters on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.

Nila explained that the victim was an unidentified pedestrian, referred to as Mr X. The victim sustained serious injuries including a fracture to the thigh, an open wound on the neck, and bleeding from the ear before dying at the scene.

Based on preliminary crime scene processing, the accident began when the first vehicle, identity unknown, travelling from north to south on Imam Bonjol Street, hit the victim who was crossing from west to east. After the first collision, that vehicle immediately fled the scene. Shortly after, the victim was struck again by a second vehicle travelling from north to south. The second driver also fled after the incident.

Subsequently, the victim was struck by a Daihatsu Xenia in DK 1275 ACF driven by INS (55). The Xenia’s driver is reported to have not sustained any injuries in the incident.

“For the identities of the first two vehicles, they are still under investigation and officers are continuing the inquiry,” Nila said.

Police are now still searching for the two vehicles suspected of involvement in this fatal hit-and-run incident.
