Pedal Padel Employee Interrogated Over Racket Theft Before False Imprisonment

Police have disclosed the initial circumstances surrounding the false imprisonment of an employee accused of stealing rackets at Pedal Padel in South Jakarta. The perpetrators initially interrogated the victim, but he was deemed to be giving evasive answers.

‘Initially, it was not planned. They just wanted to interrogate him. Then, because the process was perhaps a bit convoluted, they ended up detaining him for too long,’ said South Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Mobile Investigation Unit Head, First Inspector Satrio, on Monday (6/7/2026).

The perpetrators wanted to know where the rackets had been sold. Because the victim was considered not to be explaining properly, the false imprisonment was carried out.

‘Perhaps they wanted to know where the rackets were sold and so forth. So maybe the victim himself did not explain clearly, causing the interrogation to drag on,’ he detailed.

Based on preliminary examination results, the false imprisonment was carried out on the perpetrators’ own initiative. No instructions from the management to the perpetrators have been found yet.

‘We have not found any yet; whether there are none or what, we are still investigating,’ he stated.

Police previously conducted a crime scene investigation at Pedal Padel in South Jakarta. The crime scene investigation was carried out to complete the investigation process.

‘Yes, today we are conducting the final crime scene investigation needed to complete the investigation process, while also removing the police line we had installed. We will ask Pedal Padel for a receipt for the opening or release of the police line,’ said First Inspector Satrio.

A number of pieces of evidence were seized by investigators during the crime scene investigation. Among them were tools used by the perpetrators to detain the victim.

‘Because it is deemed sufficient for this crime scene, we have taken both blood samples and the tools used to detain the victim,’ he revealed.

Investigations are continuing by gathering evidence and witness statements. So far, four perpetrators have been proven to be involved in the false imprisonment.

‘For now, we are still investigating, but from the evidence we have obtained, only those four perpetrators were involved in committing the abuse and false imprisonment,’ he stated.
