Peak Return Traffic for Eid 2026 Predicted in Two Waves: When?
The peak return traffic for Eid al-Fitr 1447 H in 2026, or Lebaran, is predicted not to occur just once but in two major waves. This was stated by the President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, Rivan A. Purwantono, during a briefing at the Jasa Marga Management Training Centre in Bekasi. According to Rivan, 24 March 2026 is estimated to be the first busiest day for the return flow, with vehicle volumes from various directions heading to Jabodetabek and other cities expected to surge sharply. The peak return traffic is also predicted to occur again on 28-29 March 2026. This second wave is likely to emerge because the public will utilise additional holidays and collective leave. To alleviate congestion during these two peaks, Jasa Marga urges the public to reconsider travelling on 26-27 March, when traffic conditions are expected to be lighter. In addition, toll road users can take advantage of a 30 per cent toll discount during that period. “Plan well with the right timing. Check traffic density to truly enjoy the return journey and arrive safely,” said Rivan. At the same occasion, the Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, emphasised that the government’s work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy can be utilised by returnees to arrange more flexible return times. “You can return on the 25th, 26th, 27th up to the 29th so that this peak flow can be spread across each day,” he said. He stressed that spreading travel times is key to maintaining smoothness, comfort, and safety for the entire community. Returning earlier on 25-27 March could be an option to avoid congestion and also enjoy the toll discount.
