Peak Return Flow Today, Passengers Arriving at Jakarta Terminals Up 80%
The number of passengers returning to Jakarta during the post-Eid al-Fitr return flow has begun to increase. The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has recorded an increase of up to 80 per cent.
“For the time being, from monitoring on Monday (23/3) compared to normal conditions, there has already been around an 80 per cent increase in the number of passengers during the return flow,” said the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, while inspecting the readiness for the return flow at Kampung Rambutan Terminal, East Jakarta, as reported by Antara on Tuesday (24/3/2026).
Syafrin stated that the number of passengers returning to Jakarta via terminals has experienced a sharp rise compared to normal conditions. The increase in passengers began occurring since Monday (23/3).
“From the results of the return flow movement up to Monday (23/3), it has been observed that there is already an increase in the number of passengers at several terminals in Jakarta, including at Kampung Rambutan Terminal,” said Syafrin.
This increase was recorded at seven main terminals serving the return flow, namely Pulo Gebang Terminal, Kampung Rambutan Terminal, Kalideres Terminal, Tanjung Priok Terminal, Lebak Bulus Terminal, Grogol Terminal, and Muara Angke Terminal.
Syafrin said that his side will continue to monitor the number of operating buses as well as passenger movements at each terminal.
“As soon as the return flow has started, we conduct monitoring of the development of the number of passengers as well as buses providing services,” said Syafrin.
Of all those terminals, there are three terminals that are currently the busiest points, namely Kampung Rambutan Terminal, Kalideres Terminal, and Pulo Gebang Terminal. He explained that these three terminals serve as the main nodes for passenger arrivals from various regions, especially from Java and Sumatra islands.
Syafrin mentioned that the peak of the return flow is predicted to occur today. This prediction aligns with estimates from the Ministry of Transportation.
“The peak of the return flow will occur today. We see an increase in passengers from the direction of Sumatra and Java, and those returning to Jakarta are also estimated to reach their peak today,” explained Syafrin.
