The peak of the Lebaran 2026 return flow is predicted to occur twice, on 24 March and 28-29 March, according to Aan Suhanan, Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation.

“The peak flow in line with the return flow prediction will be on 24 March 2026 and 28-29 March 2026,” Aan stated at Polda Metro Jaya on Friday (20/3).

Aan urged mudik participants not to travel on those dates. He requested that the public take advantage of the work from anywhere (WFA) policy to avoid congestion during the return flow.

“The government has provided work from anywhere, WFA, on 25, 26, 27, so all members of the public planning to return are advised to do so on those dates,” Aan said.

“So as not to coincide with the peak flow on 24, 28, and 29. This is solely to reduce the volume of vehicles on the roads,” he added.

On the other hand, Aan conveyed that the policy restricting three-axle vehicles remains in effect during the Lebaran return flow. He asked all logistics transport operators to comply with the policy.

For information, the three-axle vehicle restriction is stipulated in the Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) of 3 Ministers for 2026 Number KP-DRJD 854 of 2026; HK.201/1/21/DJPL/2026: Kep/43/ll/2026: 20/KPTS/Db/2026 on the Restriction of Goods Transport Operations. The regulation applies for 17 days during the Lebaran mudik and return flow in 2026, from Friday (13/3) to Sunday (29/3).

“The Ministry of Transportation has issued more than 170 warning letters to operators who continue to operate their vehicles during the restriction period,” Aan stated.
