Peak Return Flow Approaches, Korlantas Prepares National One-Way from Kalikangkung

Traffic at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate in Semarang was observed to be busy but smooth on Tuesday afternoon (24/3/2026) WIB, ahead of the implementation of the national one-way return flow towards Jakarta and its surroundings. The police, along with various stakeholders, will apply traffic engineering to anticipate the surge in vehicles after Eid al-Fitr.

Vehicles passing through were dominated by private cars of returnees heading west. Traffic volume has increased, but movement remains controlled without significant congestion at that point.

Starting at 11:00 WIB, officers conducted route sterilisation as part of preparations for the traffic engineering implementation. Subsequently, at 14:00 WIB, the national one-way return flow is scheduled to be launched directly by the National Police Chief, General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, accompanied by the Head of Korlantas Polri, Irjen Pol Agus Suryonugroho.

“The plan is for us to implement the national one-way return flow in accordance with the National Police Chief’s instructions. We have also coordinated with the Minister of Transportation, Jasa Marga, and Jasa Raharja for the flag-off implementation on 24 March 2026,” said Agus.

Korlantas Polri is finalising the traffic engineering scenario to face the surge in return flow for Eid 2026. This strategy is compiled based on the results of analysis and evaluation of vehicle movements during the outbound journey period.

Traffic control will be carried out in stages, taking into account vehicle distribution and potential congestion at several critical points. Mapping of movement patterns has been conducted to determine the timing and type of engineering to be applied.

“If necessary, on 23 March 2026, we will already implement the first stage of local one-way from KM 414 to KM 70,” said Agus in Jakarta on Sunday (22/3/2026).
