It is estimated that tomorrow the number of passengers at Terminal Kampung Rambutan could reach 4,000 or 5,000 passengers,” said the Head of Terminal Kampung Rambutan, Revi Zulkarnain, at the terminal in East Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to him, the Lebaran 2026 return flow at Terminal Kampung Rambutan is beginning to experience a significant increase. Until Tuesday (24/3) at 11:00 WIB, the number of arriving passengers recorded reached 2,133 people.

The majority of these passengers come from several areas in West Java and Central Java, which are annual strongholds for holidaymakers returning home.

The surge in passengers is expected to continue increasing in the coming days. In fact, they have projected that the first peak of the return flow will occur tomorrow.

“It is estimated that the peak will occur tomorrow, from the early hours until the morning,” said Revi.

Even, the passenger surge at the peak of the return flow could reach double. This is considered as the impact of the end of the Lebaran holiday period and the resumption of work activities in Jakarta.

“Indeed, it is predicted there will be two peaks in the return flow, namely on 25 March and 29 March 2026. The arrival times are relatively the same, namely from the early hours to the morning,” explained Revi.

According to him, this pattern occurs due to differences in leave schedules and the return of people from their hometowns.

Some holidaymakers choose to return earlier to avoid crowds, while others wait until closer to the end of the holiday period.

Amid the increasing passenger flow, Revi assured that the security situation remains under control. Security is carried out in an integrated manner involving various elements, from police to TNI who are on guard 24 hours a day.

From personnel of National Police Headquarters, Metro Jaya Regional Police, East Jakarta Metro Police Resort, Ciracas Police Sector, Rambutan Terminal Police Post, Pasar Rebo Military District Command, to personnel from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

“Alhamdulillah, up to now the security situation at Terminal Kampung Rambutan is quite conducive. We have received security support from all parties,” said Revi.

The facilities prepared include adequate waiting rooms, toilets, prayer rooms, and rest areas for passengers who need time to recover after long journeys.

“We also provide rest areas for passengers, including prayer rooms and other facilities so they can rest briefly before continuing their journey to their final destination,” said Revi.

Revi also reminded holidaymakers to always maintain their health during the return journey.

In addition, he emphasised the importance of using official terminal facilities, both for departure and arrival.

“We urge the holidaymakers returning to Jakarta to ensure they are in good health. Board from the terminal and alight also at the terminal. Do not alight on the roadside because it is very risky, especially since most buses arrive in the early hours,” said Revi.

According to him, alighting outside the terminal not only endangers passenger safety but also has the potential to cause disturbances to order and traffic flow around the terminal.

Cross-agency coordination is also continuously strengthened to ensure the 2026 Lebaran return flow runs safely, orderly, and smoothly.
