Peak Passenger Times for Jabodetabek Commuter Rail During Ramadan
KAI Commuter stated that there has been a change in passenger numbers on the Commuter Rail (KRL) during Ramadan. The Vice President of Corporate Secretary at KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, said that KRL passengers are now travelling earlier in the morning and returning home earlier in the afternoon.
During the mornings of Ramadan, passenger numbers begin to increase from 05:00 and peak between 06:00 and 07:00. “This passenger distribution differs from the period before Ramadan, when it usually started to increase from 06:00 to 08:00,” said Karina in a written statement on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.

Furthermore, Karina said that a change in passenger distribution also occurs in the afternoon from 15:00 to 18:00. Passenger numbers increase again from 19:00 as passengers travel after breaking their fast.
Passenger volume has increased at several stations during morning departures. Rangkasbitung Station has increased by 28 percent, or 1,500 to 1,600 people, since 04:00. “Meanwhile, from 05:00 to 06:00, an increase occurred at Bekasi Station by 50 to 64 percent, or 5,000 to 8,000 people,” said Karina.
KAI Commuter recorded that the daily passenger volume during Ramadan is relatively stable at over one million passengers. Congestion is more concentrated during certain times, such as during the iftar period.
Management advises all passengers to plan their journeys well by adjusting to the available schedules and always following the instructions of officers.
“All passengers are also advised to always respect other passengers by maintaining cleanliness and comfort for all while breaking the fast on the train,” said Karina.
