Depok – The management of Jatijajar Terminal in Depok, West Java, predicts that the peak exodus for the 2026 Eid holiday (Lebaran mudik) will occur on Wednesday, 18 March, although passenger activity is already beginning to increase noticeably.

Rafik Hidayat, head of Jatijajar Terminal in Depok, said on Saturday that an increase in passengers is expected to commence towards the end of this week.

Based on passenger movement data at Jatijajar Terminal during the exodus transport period over the past three years (2023–2025), the trend shows that peak exodus activity occurs in the range of three to two days before the Eid celebration.

“This data shows that the majority of the public chooses to travel several days before Eid to avoid congestion closer to the actual day,” he explained.

In 2023, the highest passenger numbers were recorded three days before Eid (H-3), totalling 2,802 passengers. In 2024, peak passenger movement occurred two days before Eid (H-2) with 2,326 passengers. In 2025, the peak exodus was again recorded three days before Eid with 2,059 passengers.

Based on this pattern, the prediction that the peak exodus will occur on 18 March is considered consistent with passenger movement trends in previous years. Consequently, terminal management expects passenger numbers to begin rising several days before this date and reach their peak during this period.

“The increasing mobility of the public is influenced by the upcoming extended holiday period,” he said.

Additionally, government policy regarding the distribution of Eid bonuses (Tunjangan Hari Raya) is also expected to encourage citizens to undertake the journey home for the holiday.
