Peak Mudik Flow 2026: Garuda Indonesia Group Serves 77,000 Passengers in a Single Day
Garuda Indonesia Group recorded at least 77,000 passengers in a single day during the peak of the Lebaran mudik on Wednesday (18/3). This service covered the entire flight network operated by Garuda Indonesia and Citilink. During this period, Garuda Indonesia served around 34,000 passengers through 227 flights, while Citilink transported more than 43,000 passengers via 276 flights.
To anticipate the increased travel needs, Garuda Indonesia operated 25 additional flights, and Citilink added 26 extra flights.
“Entering the peak mudik period, Garuda Indonesia ensures all operational aspects run optimally. This is done to anticipate the surge in passenger numbers during the peak season. This readiness is part of efforts to maintain smooth travel for the public,” said Corporate Communications Division Head of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, Dicky Irchamsyah, in his statement on Thursday (19/3).
From departures at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, the total passengers served reached around 34,000 people. This figure consisted of 18,000 passengers flying on 108 Garuda Indonesia flights.
Meanwhile, Citilink recorded 16,000 passengers through 92 flights from the airport. Flight punctuality performance was also a focus during this period.
Garuda Indonesia recorded an On-Time Performance (OTP) for first departure of 98% at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Meanwhile, Citilink achieved an average OTP for first departure of up to 100% at the same airport.
Several domestic routes recorded the highest traffic during this year’s mudik peak. These included Jakarta–Denpasar, Jakarta–Medan, Jakarta–Makassar, Jakarta–Surabaya, as well as other routes like Manado-Jakarta, Jakarta–Balikpapan, and Jakarta–Yogyakarta. For international routes, the highest traffic was recorded on Jakarta–Incheon, Jakarta–Haneda, Jakarta–Jeddah, and Jakarta–Singapore.
With the high mobility of the public during Lebaran, Garuda Indonesia Group also projects that the peak return flow will occur on 24 March 2026.
“This prediction serves as the basis for preparing ongoing services to remain optimal. Various anticipatory measures continue to be taken to maintain smooth travel,” said Dicky.
