Peak Lebaran Return Traffic 2026: 85,000 Vehicles Crowd Cikampek Main Toll Gate on Tuesday (24/3) Night
Traffic volume at the Cikampek Main Toll Gate (GT Cikampek Utama or Cikatama) in Karawang, West Java, was observed to surge sharply on Tuesday (24/3) night. This wave of vehicles from the east heading to Jakarta signals the beginning of the peak Lebaran 2026 return flow.
According to data from PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) up to 23:46 WIB, a total of 85,453 vehicles had passed through GT Cikatama towards Jakarta.
This figure marks a significant increase compared to the total of 75,000 vehicles on Monday (23/3) across three shifts.
Vice President of Corporate Secretary and Legal at PT JTT, Ria Marlinda Paalo, explained that the surge in vehicle volume from the Semarang direction (GT Kalikangkung) became notably significant starting from 20:00 WIB.
“Indeed, we can see that the traffic volume has risen now. We noted that around 8-9 PM, it had already reached 70,000 vehicles. So, it is quite high. We will continue to monitor until the end of shift 3, which means until 5 AM tomorrow,” said Ria when met at the GT Cikatama office on Tuesday (24/3) night.
In response to the surge, Jasa Marga is implementing several strategic measures to alleviate congestion:
“So, we are ensuring that all road users are not hindered by queues entering the rest area. Therefore, we urge road users to prepare their journeys in advance,” Ria concluded.
This number only reaches 50.16% of the total projection of 3.39 million vehicles expected to return to Jabotabek until 31 March.
PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) is adding toll booth operations at Gerbang Tol Cikampek Utama towards Jakarta to support the implementation of the one-way policy.
