National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has stated that the peak homecoming traffic for Eid 1447 H in 2026 is predicted to occur during two periods in mid-March.

This was announced by the National Police Chief during an inter-sectoral coordination meeting for Operation Ketupat 2026 at the National Police Science High School in South Jakarta on Monday (2 March).

He stated that the forecast was obtained by the Traffic Directorate based on a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation and by comparing actual numbers of travellers from 2025.

“The prediction for the peak homecoming traffic (first period) is expected to occur from 14 to 15 March,” he said.

Following the first return period, the government will also implement a Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy on 16 and 17 March. This means a second peak in homecoming traffic is expected on 18 and 19 March.

The National Police Chief also warned all personnel to prepare for controlled crossings to Bali, as the Day of Nyepi celebration coincides with Eid 1447 H.

“Therefore, there is a need to regulate crossings between East Java and Bali to honour the Day of Nyepi,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sigit stated that the peak return traffic will also occur in two waves, with the first wave predicted for 24 and 25 March.

“The prediction for the second peak return traffic is 28 to 29 March, and if necessary, the Police will carry out continuation operations with intensified routine activities,” he said.

Previously, the National Police Headquarters announced that Operation Ketupat 2026 would be conducted to secure homecoming and return traffic during Eid 1447 H over two weeks from 13 to 25 March.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that Operation Ketupat would involve 161,000 joint personnel from TNI-Polri along with other related agencies and stakeholders.

“This year we are conducting Operation Ketupat activities running from 13 March to 25 March, and this year’s tagline is ‘Safe Homecoming and Happy Families’,” he said during the inter-sectoral coordination meeting at PTIK in Jakarta on Monday (2 March).
