Peak Homecoming Traffic: National One-Way System from Cikampek to Kalikangkung Officially Implemented
A one-way traffic engineering system has been enforced from kilometre 70 on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road to kilometre 414 at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate on the Batang-Semarang Toll Road during the peak of the Eid al-Fitr homecoming exodus in 2026, starting at 1:25 PM WIB on Wednesday, 18 March 2026. The implementation of this one-way system was at the discretion of the police and supported by PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk after clearing the route and rest areas from the opposite direction, from Semarang towards Cikampek. The policy was marked by a flag-off ceremony conducted by the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, alongside police officials and Jasa Marga directors. Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A. Purwantono explained that the national one-way application was based on a surge in vehicle volume from Jakarta towards Semarang. “Traffic engineering indicators on Jasa Marga Group toll roads have also been met for the one-way implementation through detection by traffic counting devices on the Jakarta-Cikampek, Palikanci, and Batang-Semarang routes,” stated Rivan on Wednesday, 18 March 2026. Previously, the first stage of one-way had been in effect since 17 March 2026 from kilometre 70 on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road to kilometre 263 on the Pejagan-Pemalang route, along with contraflow engineering from kilometre 36 to 70 on the same route. The police advised road users traversing the one-way route to ensure their vehicles and drivers are in optimal condition, to avoid stopping on the shoulder except in emergencies, not to change lanes abruptly, and to adhere to speed limits and instructions from on-site officers. The one-way route is designated for vehicles heading to Semarang, while users can still access rest areas on the right lane or the opposite direction.
