The peak phase of the Hajj pilgrimage begins tomorrow, Monday (25/5). Indonesian Hajj pilgrims are scheduled to move from hotels to Arafah for the wukuf ritual starting at 07:00 Saudi Arabia Time (SAT).
Inspector General of the Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Dendi Suryadi, outlined key challenges for officials serving pilgrims in Arafah.
According to Dendi, traffic congestion during the movement of pilgrims from Mecca to Arafah is a primary concern, as millions of Muslims worldwide will move to a single location simultaneously.
“The movement of Indonesian pilgrims is on 8 Dhu al-Hijjah, Monday (25/5) at 07:00 SAT. Hajj pilgrims in 2026 will move from hotels across Mecca to Arafah, which is a critical point,” Dendi stated after leading a readiness inspection for Arafah officials in Mecca on Saturday (23/5).
Besides logistics and transportation, Dendi highlighted extreme weather challenges, with temperatures expected to reach 47 degrees Celsius, according to Saudi Arabia’s BMKG (Meteorological Agency).
To mitigate this, personnel have been deployed to critical points in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna). Transport fleets have also been confirmed ready to move pilgrims from accommodations.
Since today, teams of officials have been sent ahead to Arafah to welcome pilgrims tomorrow. “When pilgrims arrive on 8 Dhu al-Hijjah or 25 May 2026, all officials will be ready,” he added.
Previously, Indonesian Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, instructed all Hajj officials to maintain top-quality service. Known as Gus Irfan, he stressed that the Armuzna phase is the main indicator of this year’s Hajj operational success.
“The peak of Hajj is Armuzna; if Armuzna proceeds as expected, 80% of the success is already secured,” Gus Irfan concluded.
Haji Health Officer of Batch JKS 03, Dr Rully Rusdiana, reminded pilgrims to maintain their health, noting they should avoid voluntary Umrah activities.
The Ministry of Hajj confirmed that Armuzna facilities (Arafah, Muzdalifah, Mina) are over 90% ready for the peak Hajj on 26 May 2026.
BP Haji confirmed free wukuf safari services, but also found indications of illegal charges against elderly pilgrims for these services.
Hajj operations must uphold humanitarian values, professionalism, and quality service.
Foreign pilgrims total 1,506,576, while domestic Saudi pilgrims: 166,654.
The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj swiftly addressed findings of tent capacity discrepancies for Indonesian pilgrims in Arafah after Minister Mochamad Irfan Yusuf conducted on-site inspections.
Head of Operational Unit Armuzna PPIH Saudi Arabia 2026, Surnadi, stated that preparation progress for the 2026 Hajj peak is 95% complete.
Brebes Hajj Officers conducted tent surveys in Arafah and Mina ahead of the 2026 Hajj peak, confirming facilities are ready.
DPR’s Hajj Oversight Team requested the Ministry of Hajj to promptly report on pilgrim movement schemes in Armuzna, including readiness for Murur and Tanazul schemes for the elderly.
Chairman of DPR Commission VIII, Marwan Dasopang, stated that Saudi Arabia has issued an ultimatum to Indonesia to promptly determine Arafah territory for Hajj, or it will be allocated to another country.
