Peak Exodus Exodus for Eid 2026 Predicted in Two Waves: 14-15 March and 18-19 March
JAKARTA – The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has forecast that the homecoming exodus for Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, or Eid 2026, will occur in two distinct waves.
The first wave is predicted for 14-15 March 2026, whilst the second wave is expected on 18-19 March 2026.
“The first wave is scheduled for 14-15 March 2026. Then the second wave of the 2026 Eid exodus is predicted for 18-19 March 2026,” stated Deputy Chief of National Police General Dedi Prasetyo during a meeting at the Police Sciences Higher Education Institute (PTIK) in Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026.
These figures represent a decline compared to the actual numbers recorded during Eid 2025, which reached 146.4 million people.
“According to a survey by the Minister of Transportation, which was presented earlier, the potential movement of people during the 2026 Eid holiday period is estimated at 143.9 million people. This figure shows a decrease compared to 2025 of 2.57 million people, or 1.75 per cent,” said Dedi.
A combined force of 161,243 personnel will be deployed during the operation to secure the homecoming routes, crowded public areas, and other vital infrastructure. Additionally, Polri will establish 2,746 command posts comprising 1,624 security command posts, 779 service command posts, and 343 integrated command posts.
