Peak exodus at Kampung Rambutan terminal on 17-18 March
The head of Kampung Rambutan bus terminal, Revi Zulkarnain, stated that ticket bookings data shows the highest demand falls on 17 and 18 March during the Lebaran exodus period.
Those unable to secure tickets for these peak dates typically opt to advance their departure to 16 March, resulting in exceptionally high passenger volumes across the 16-18 March period.
Popular destinations from the terminal vary by region. For Central Java, frequently chosen destinations include Tegal, Pekalongan, Cilacap and Wonosobo. In West Java, travellers favour Cianjur, Tasikmalaya and Garut. Long-distance services to Sumatra also prove popular, with Padang and Palembang serving as the two primary destinations for passengers departing from Kampung Rambutan.
Bus departure schedules are distributed across several time slots daily. Morning departures between 06:00 and 08:00 primarily serve Central and West Java routes. Afternoon to evening services between 12:00 and midnight are dominated by West Java routes, whilst services between 15:00 and 19:00 largely serve Central Java routes.
Passenger numbers have risen significantly in recent days. On 11 March, 587 passengers departed on 68 buses. By 14 March, numbers surged to 2,303 passengers across 154 buses. As of the afternoon of 15 March, approximately 2,200 passengers had been recorded, with projections suggesting further increases into the evening.
Terminal management has emphasised measures to ensure smooth operations and passenger comfort during the peak period. Revi urged prospective travellers to plan journeys in advance, verify ticket availability before arriving at the terminal, and arrive earlier than scheduled departure times to avoid congestion during the busy exodus period.
