Peak Exodus at Hasanuddin Airport Predicted to Reach 34,344 Passengers
Passenger movements at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar are predicted to reach their peak on H-3 (three days before) Eid al-Fitr, or 18 March 2026. The number of passengers is projected to reach approximately 37,344 persons.
“The peak exodus is predicted to occur on H-3 Eid al-Fitr or 18 March 2026 with a projection of passenger movements reaching approximately 37,344 passengers in a single day,” said Fascal Ramadhan, Deputy General Manager of Branch Communication and Corporate Social Responsibility at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, to CNNIndonesia.com on Saturday (14 March).
Based on air traffic data from the Eid Exodus Transportation Command Post as of 13 March, the number of aircraft movements reached 254 flights. This figure increased by approximately 25.1 per cent compared to the same period in 2025, which recorded only 203 aircraft movements.
Meanwhile, the number of passengers served reached 28,791 persons, or an increase of 11.9 per cent compared to the previous year, which had 25,719 passengers.
“When compared to the same period last year, aircraft movements increased by 25.1 per cent and passengers rose by approximately 11.9 per cent,” he said.
For cargo movements, 383 tonnes were recorded, an increase of approximately 0.6 per cent compared to 2025, which reached 380.7 tonnes.
From the perspective of flight punctuality, or On-Time Performance (OTP), 179 flights departed on schedule, whilst 75 flights experienced delays. Overall, the OTP rate reached 70.4 per cent.
Additionally, the seat occupancy rate reached 66.2 per cent with flight slot utilisation at 81.4 per cent.
Fascal stated that during the observation period until 13 March 2026, there had been no requests for additional flights or extra flights from airlines.
“For now, there have been no requests for extra flights from airlines,” he explained.
The three busiest flight routes from Sultan Hasanuddin Airport during this year’s Eid exodus period are the routes to Jakarta, Surabaya, and Kendari.
The airport estimates that the number of passengers will continue to increase as Eid al-Fitr approaches, in line with increased mobility of people travelling for the exodus to various regions.
