Peak Eid Homecoming Traffic at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport Reaches 37,344 Passengers

PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia’s branch at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport projects today, Wednesday (18/3), as the peak of the Eid homecoming flow. An estimated 37,344 passengers are expected to crowd the airport, both arrivals and departures, representing a significant jump compared to previous days. Branch Communication & CSR Department Head of Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, Fascal Ramadhan, revealed that the passenger surge has been evident in recent days. “Based on cumulative data from 13–17 March 2026, the total number of passengers reached 175,148 people, or an increase of 13.6 percent compared to the same period last year, which was only 154,188 people,” Fascal explained in a written statement on Wednesday (18/3). Not only the number of passengers, but aircraft movements have also recorded an increase. Up to Tuesday (17/3), there were 1,336 flights during the homecoming period, growing 14.7 percent from 1,165 flights in 2025. Specifically for Tuesday, there were 277 flights, up 7.8 percent from 257 flights last year. “For the peak homecoming flow today, we predict there will be 260 flights with a total of 37,344 passengers. This figure is the highest during this year’s homecoming period,” Fascal added. According to airport records, the three favourite routes for homecomers are Jakarta, Surabaya, and Kendari. Airport authorities advise prospective passengers to arrive earlier to anticipate density in the check-in and security areas.
