Peak Eid Homecoming Traffic at Airports Reaches 570,000 Passengers, InJourney Airports Ensures Smooth Operations
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The peak of the Eid homecoming traffic in 2026 at 37 airports managed by PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia or InJourney Airports on 18 March 2026 (H-2) proceeded smoothly amid a surge in passenger traffic. During that period, the total passenger movements reached 570,959 people, becoming the highest figure since the start of Lebaran transport on 13 March 2026. Meanwhile, aircraft movements were recorded at 4,043 flights. The CEO of InJourney Airports, Mohammad R. Pahlevi, stated that this operational smoothness was supported by thorough planning and intensive coordination with various stakeholders. “Mature operational plans and support from stakeholders, including security from TNI-Polri detachments, enabled all airports to anticipate the increase in traffic during the peak homecoming flow. Predictive readiness became the key to smoothness,” said Pahlevi. Cumulatively, during the H-7 to H-2 period or 13–18 March 2026, the number of passengers at all InJourney Airports reached 3.15 million people. This figure increased by around 7 percent compared to the same period last year, which reached 2.94 million passengers. A similar increase occurred in aircraft movements, which grew 7 percent to 23,269 flights from the previous 21,748 flights. This traffic surge was also supported by the operation of more than 1,136 additional flights (extra flights) carried out by airlines during the 13–17 March 2026 period. Interestingly, this achievement also surpassed pre-pandemic conditions. The number of passengers during the H-7 to H-2 period was recorded about 5 percent higher than the same period in 2019. “Although it was the peak of the homecoming flow, we successfully managed the traffic increase well so that passenger and vehicle queues at the airports could be minimised,” said Pahlevi. Five Busiest Airports During that period, several airports recorded the highest traffic, namely Soekarno-Hatta Airport with 1.06 million passengers, followed by I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport with 390,853 passengers. Next, Juanda Airport served 266,910 passengers, Sultan Hasanuddin Airport with 211,177 passengers, and Kualanamu Airport with 145,305 passengers. InJourney Airports ensures that all airports remain vigilant in maintaining security, safety, and service aspects until the end of the Lebaran transport period on 30 March 2026.
