Peak Eid Exodus Traffic at Cikatama Toll Gate 7 Percent Higher Than Last Year

Karawang, West Java (ANTARA) - Jasamarga recorded the peak flow of vehicles passing through the Cikampek Utama (Cikatama) Toll Gate in Karawang, West Java, on H-3 before Eid 2026, which was 7 percent higher than last year. Vice President of Corporate Secretary & Legal at PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paallo, stated that on H-3, or Wednesday (18/3), the number of vehicles passing reached around 135,000. According to her, this figure represents the highest so far during the mudik period. “This number is quite evident from the ongoing traffic engineering efforts, with no stops,” said Ria when interviewed at the Cikatama Toll Gate on Thursday. During the mudik period from 11 to 18 March 2026, she noted that a total of 523,000 vehicles had already passed through the Cikatama Toll Gate from Jakarta towards Central Java. From this total, she said the figure is quite high, being 2 percent higher than last year. “If compared to normal, this is already 132 percent of normal traffic,” she added. Furthermore, she mentioned that on Thursday, or H-2 before Eid, the mudik volume remains high with around 7,500 vehicles passing per hour. Her team, along with the police, has anticipated this by implementing counterflow traffic engineering starting from KM 36 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road up to the Cikatama Toll Gate. “We have opened contraflow from kilometre 36 to kilometre 70, and at kilometre 49, we have expanded it from two lanes to three lanes,” she said.
