The peak of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming traffic is expected to occur on Wednesday, 18 March 2026. To anticipate the surge in vehicles heading towards the Trans-Java region, PT Jasa Marga Trans Jawa Tol is operating all lanes at the Cikampek Main Toll Gate (GT) in Purwakarta Regency, West Java.

A total of 22 lanes are being fully opened to accelerate vehicle transactions and reduce long queues for homecomers passing from Jakarta towards the eastern regions of Java island.

Vice President of Corporate Secretary & Legal at PT Jasa Marga Trans Jawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paalo, stated that all these lanes are being maximised during the peak homecoming period.

“So all 22 lanes are now operational to handle traffic volume from west to east across Trans-Java,” said Ria Marlinda Paalo at the Cikampek Main Toll Gate on Wednesday, 18 March 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Notably, under the one-way traffic engineering scheme implemented during the peak homecoming, several lanes normally used for vehicles exiting towards Jakarta have been repurposed to serve oncoming traffic.

Four lanes that are typically used for outbound traffic to Jakarta are now serving homecoming vehicles. Toll officers are utilising mobile reader (MR) devices to ensure transactions proceed quickly, even though these lanes are not the primary homecoming route.

This measure is part of the toll road operator’s strategy to speed up toll payments and reduce vehicle density at the toll gate, which becomes one of the busiest traffic nodes during the homecoming season.

In addition to opening all toll lanes, Jasa Marga is implementing various traffic engineering measures to maintain smooth vehicle flow. One of them is the enforcement of contra-flow starting from kilometre 36 in the Bekasi area.

According to Ria, the contra-flow application is situational and will be adjusted based on traffic conditions continuously monitored by officers on the ground.

“Contra-flow is adjusted according to the flow from Jakarta,” she said.

Although the peak homecoming traffic is expected today, Jasa Marga remains open to operational adjustments if vehicle volume remains high in the following days.
