Peacekeeping Troop Rotation: 742 Soldiers Ready to Depart for Lebanon on 22 May 2026
Following an inspection, Dudung confirmed that 742 TNI personnel are ready to be deployed on 22 May to rotate and replace the current Indonesian contingent in Lebanon. Dudung stressed that all provisions from the UN Peacekeeping Mission Preparatory Centre (PMPP) have been provided to the maximum extent.
“I see that the troops are ready. Of course, this is a UN mission, but more importantly, it is carrying out the mission of the Indonesian nation,” said Dudung in his statement on Monday (11/5/2026).
Furthermore, Dudung emphasised instructions regarding priorities such as safeguarding the soldiers’ safety, upholding the good name of the Indonesian nation, and carrying out their primary duties to the best of their ability. He also highlighted the special regard in which TNI soldiers are held by the international community.
“Because of this peacekeeping mission, especially the Indonesian military, they are highly sought after there for their friendliness, care, and seriousness in carrying out their duties,” he stated.
Dudung requested prayers and blessings from all Indonesians so that this noble task runs successfully and smoothly, and all soldiers can return to the homeland safely.
“To all the people of Indonesia, please offer your prayers and blessings, may all these troops carry out their duties smoothly, we hope they return safely, and the peacekeeping mission can run successfully,” he concluded.
Foreign Minister Sugiono, who also participated in the inspection, asked the soldiers, as successors to the nation’s history, to carry out their duties sincerely, with full enthusiasm, and conviction to elevate Indonesia’s reputation in the international world. He reminded the soldiers to always prioritise safety factors.
“It is a pride for me to meet you brothers and sisters at this time, and a greater pride for me to be able to meet you brothers and sisters when you return to the homeland in good and healthy condition,” he said.
In addition to Dudung and Sugiono, those present at the inspection event included Deputy Minister of National Development Planning/Deputy Head of Bappenas Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard, Head of the International Relations Division (Kadivhubinter) of the National Police Inspector General Pol. Amur Chandra Juli Buana, and Commander of the TNI PMPP Major General Iwan Bambang Setiawan.
