JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Sad news has emerged from southern Lebanon. Three TNI soldiers attached to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping mission were killed while carrying out their duties.

They were Corporal Farizal Rhomadhon, Staff Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Captain Inf Zulmi Aditya.

Their passing has not only left wounds for their families and fellow soldiers but has also brought deep sorrow to the Indonesian nation.

From the homeland, messages of condolences and tributes have poured in.

Through a post on his personal Instagram account, he remembered their dedication as they fell while carrying out the peacekeeping mission in the Middle East.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ’ilaihi raaji’uun. My deepest condolences for the passing of Captain Inf Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Staff Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Corporal Farizal Rhomadhon while carrying out the peacekeeping mission in the Middle East,” wrote Prabowo in his post on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

The government, through State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, also conveyed profound concern.

He emphasised that the government has coordinated with several parties, from the Minister of Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to the TNI Commander, to expedite the repatriation of the soldiers’ bodies to the homeland.

At the same time, the government is pushing for an investigation into the incident.

“We, as the State Secretary, have also coordinated with the Minister of Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the TNI Commander, in carrying out the best efforts for the repatriation of the bodies of the three fallen soldiers,” he said.

Condolences were also expressed by MPR RI Chairman Ahmad Muzani.

He described the soldiers’ deaths as a great loss, while strongly condemning the attack that killed them.

According to him, those TNI soldiers were the nation’s finest sons who were carrying out the global peacekeeping mandate.

“The leadership of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia, with 732 assembly members, strongly condemns Israel’s barbaric actions against our best sons who were carrying out the peacekeeping mission,” he said.
