A dispute involving the author of a book named Ahmad Bahar and members of the civil society organisation GRIB Jaya has been settled amicably. Ahmad Bahar’s house in Depok, West Java, was visited by several members of GRIB Jaya.

The residence in Cimanggis, Depok, was first visited by GRIB Jaya members on Friday (15 May). At that time the GRIB Jaya members who came to Ahmad Bahar’s house had already been briefed.

The dispute is suspected to have been triggered by hacking of Ahmad Bahar’s mobile number and that of his daughter. After the hack, the number was used by an unknown person to send threatening messages to the Chairman of GRIB Jaya, Rosario de Marshall alias Hercules, and his wife.

There were also videos circulating that used Ahmad Bahar’s image and circulated on social media. The videos are also alleged to have insulted Hercules. GRIB Jaya members then visited Ahmad Bahar’s home again on Sunday (17 May). It is suspected they wanted Ahmad Bahar to give a direct explanation to Hercules regarding the alleged hacking of the mobile number and the spread of videos on social media.

“My phone and my daughter’s phone were hacked, in other words cloned. So there are certain videos that are not mine. That may have been the source of the misunderstanding,” Ahmad Bahar said in a video seen by detikcom on Tuesday 19 May 2026.

The video was made by Ahmad Bahar together with GRIB Jaya on Monday (18 May). Ahmad Bahar said he frequently comments on a news and uploads videos on TikTok. He suspects there has been a misunderstanding about the video he made.

“So basically, I am indeed a TikToker, I am a book writer, and I typically do things related to commenting on news. It happened that I commented on a news about Mr Amien Rais and Mr Hercules, and perhaps someone misunderstood,” he said.

He suspects there are parties duplicating his video. He admitted he did not intend to mock Hercules.

“For example, I apologise, I imitate Bung Hercules’ language, so it might look like I am mocking him. But in the TikTok world that’s quite normal. But again, I am the one in the social media world, I apologise if someone duplicated and it spread everywhere,” he said.

Ahmad Bahar also expressed apologies to Hercules and his wife. He said there was a misunderstanding about his comment on the news.

“As a normal human being, I apologise to the leader of GRIB Jaya, i.e. Pak Haji Hercules, then also to his wife, and then to the GRIB administrators, both DPP DKI and others,” he said.

GRIB Jaya response

Deputy Chairman of the Legal and Advocacy Body of DPP GRIB Jaya, Wilson Colling, said the case had been closed. He said Hercules directed them to pursue a peaceful resolution.

“There was an agreement to consult through consensus, in a family-like manner. Actually, we from the Legal Division, when we examined it, wanted to take legal action. But the policy of Ketum Hercules Rosario said that if it’s better, it is more appropriate to apologise than to take the matter to court,” Wilson said in the same video.

He said both sides agreed to end the polemic. He also explained about Ahmad Bahar’s child who was taken from his home.

“Last night indeed Ahmad’s son was at the office, but in fact it was only for clarification. The Chairman was waiting for his father but when he did not come, we met at the Depok Police Station,” he said.

“We both agreed to end this brouhaha and the polemic amicably and in the future there will be no more problems,” he added.
